Thank you for your e-mail of earlier today and letter of 04 December 2008 that advised as to the 08 December 2008 event organized by the World Organization for Talented Children in support of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Throughout 2008, as culminating on Human Rights Day, 10 December 2008, the United Nations has commemorated this anniversary under the banner, “dignity and justice for all of us”. This reinforces the vision of the Declaration as the first international recognition that fundamental rights and freedoms are inalienable and inherent to all human beings – that every one of us is born free and equal. Indeed, the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration offers an auspicious opportunity for a continuous reaffirmation that together, we can progress towards the strengthened promotion and protection of human rights, both in the Republic of Moldova and throughout the world.
